The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a clarification that Home Minister Amit Shah has made no tweet claiming that mobile internet services would be suspended in Jammu and Kashmir. The statement from the MHA came after a tweet was seen circulating on social media, claiming that the internet will be suspended in the union territory.

"A tweet is circulating in the name of Union Home Minister mentioning fixed-line broadband and internet in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to be snapped. This tweet is fake. No such tweet has been done from Union Home Minister’s twitter handle," the MHA said in a statement. The snapshot of a tweet which was being circulated on social media showed that a post saying - 'Fixed-line broadband & mobile internet service to be snapped in the UT J&K and Ladakh from tonight' - was made from the official, verified Twitter account of HM Shah. Interestingly, the font used for the tweet was 'Comic sans', quite unusual for the Home Minister, who has always used formal/ official templates to convey messages through social media.
